COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year One, students begin with Launch Week, which fosters interaction across year groups through various activities. The core units include Digital Environments, where students explore digital tools for music production, mixing, and studio technology; Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, which examines the implications of these concepts in creative practice; and Digital Project, focused on creating live show productions using digital audio workstations. Opportunity Week provides industry insights through workshops and talks, while Analogue Environments introduces analogue technology for music production. Professional Development offers a look into the structure of the global music and media industries, and Analogue Project allows students to create live performances. ATOM Activities offer opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, and PLE Digital Outcome 1 requires students to track their digital engagement. In Year Two, Launch Week reorients students for advanced studies. Sound Design refines skills in audio editing and creative manipulation, with a focus on coding and algorithmic processes. The Conscious Practitioner encourages reflection on global perspectives and the role of diversity in creative practice. Sampler Instruments teaches students how to create digital samplers, while Placement/Live Brief allows for work experience or self-initiated collaborations. ATOM Activities continue, and PLE Digital Outcome focuses on building professional networks. Students also choose from electives such as Acting Through Song, Applied Skills for a Sustainable Media Industry, or Cinematography, among others.In Year Three, Launch Week kicks off the final year with collaborative projects. The core units include the Dissertation, where students develop a sustained academic argument; Music Business, which prepares students for the industry through strategy, mentoring, and professional documentation; and the Final Major Project, a culmination of students' skills, focusing on personal projects such as scoring, sound design for games, or working with external partners. The year ends with a festival celebrating student compositions. Opportunity Week continues with industry-focused talks and workshops.
