COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, students begin with the Guest Speakers' Series, gaining inspiration from industry professionals. The Atelier Principles unit teaches pattern cutting, fabric selection, and garment fitting. The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion unit promotes progressive values in creative spaces, while Contour & Structure delves into complex garment design. The Hackathon introduces new technology and collaboration, and Atelier Processes focuses on team-based design creation. Fashion and Cultural Memory explores historical fashion and object analysis, and Business of Fashion covers global industry practices. ATOM Activities and the PLE Digital Outcome encourage interdisciplinary learning and digital engagement. Year 2 starts with Career Week, preparing students for work placements and networking. Bespoke Tailoring focuses on cutting, fitting, and historical details in tailoring, while Reflective Practitioner fosters self-reflection on creative influences. Dragon’s Den offers a chance to pitch business ideas, and The Flou Studio and Flou Contextualized teach fabric manipulation and bias cutting. Placement allows for a work experience or industry case study. Elective options include Business Start-up, Product Styling and e-Commerce, Digital Fashion, Global Fashion Cultures, Fashion Film, and Design for Print. Year 3 begins with a project pitch, followed by the Portfolio & Career unit to build professional portfolios. Product Development focuses on design and product creation for a graduate collection. The Graduate Career Fair aids in post-graduation job searches, and the Realisation & Portfolio unit allows students to refine and complete their graduate collection, preparing them for their future career in the fashion industry.
