COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Dietetics (pre-registration) course provides a comprehensive foundation in the science and practice of dietetics, preparing students to become skilled, person-centred practitioners. In the first year, students explore the science of human nutrition, anatomy, and physiology, alongside public health nutrition and social and behavioural aspects of food. This year also covers evidence-based practice and research in dietetics, ensuring students develop the analytical skills necessary to apply scientific knowledge effectively in clinical settings. Core modules focus on understanding the dietetic care process and developing practical skills for working with diverse patient populations, equipping students to make informed, ethical decisions in their practice.In the second year, the course advances students’ expertise in clinical dietetics with a focus on ethical and professional practice, leadership, and service improvement. Students study paediatric dietetics to address the nutritional needs of younger populations and explore sustainability in healthcare delivery. Additional modules support career development through portfolio building and preparation for a range of dietetic roles. Throughout the program, students gain practical experience and apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, ensuring readiness for professional practice. Graduates emerge with the skills, knowledge, and professional accreditation required to register as dietitians with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), enabling them to make meaningful contributions to health and well-being in diverse clinical and community settings.
