COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychology (Conversion) course provides a comprehensive foundation in psychological theory, research, and application for students from non-psychology backgrounds. Core modules such as Brain, Mind and Behaviour and Personality and Individual Differences introduce students to essential concepts in cognitive, biological, and personality psychology, helping them understand the mechanisms that drive human thought, emotion, and behaviour. The program also emphasizes research proficiency, with dedicated modules in Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods equipping students with the skills to design, conduct, and analyse psychological studies effectively. Students explore Social and Community Psychology to understand the role of social context in shaping behaviour, while Lifespan Psychology examines development across different stages of life, providing insight into how psychological processes evolve from childhood to old age. A major component of the course is the MSc Psychology Dissertation, a 60-credit research project that allows students to apply their knowledge and research skills to investigate a question of their choice, demonstrating critical thinking, methodological rigour, and analytical competence. By combining theoretical learning with practical research experience, this course prepares graduates for a wide range of career opportunities in research, healthcare, education, and applied psychology, as well as providing a pathway to further postgraduate study or professional accreditation in psychology.
