COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Therapy BSc (Hons) degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries, combining theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in exercise instruction, exercise science, movement assessment, musculoskeletal anatomy, sports injury management, and evidence-based personal development. This initial stage equips students with the essential skills to evaluate and support physical performance safely and effectively. In the second year, the focus expands to the pathology of sports injuries, peripheral and spinal assessment, injury prevention, and sport and exercise rehabilitation, alongside research methods specific to sports therapy. These modules enable students to apply advanced assessment and intervention strategies in a clinical context while developing critical analytical skills. In the final year, students explore exercise as medicine, multidisciplinary practices in sport, professional clinical practice, and a sport and nutrition project, integrating their learning into real-world applications. Practical sessions, placements, and applied projects ensure students gain hands-on experience, enhancing their employability. Graduates are prepared for careers in elite sports, rehabilitation clinics, fitness centres, and community health, and are equipped to join the Society of Sports Therapists, ready to make a meaningful impact on athlete performance, recovery, and overall wellbeing.
