COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology BSc (Hons) degree provides a thorough understanding of human behaviour, cognition, and emotion, blending theoretical study with practical application. In the first year, students explore psychology within diverse communities, applied psychology, individual differences and personality, research methods, mental health and wellbeing, and contemporary psychological issues, establishing a strong foundation in the discipline. The second year builds on this foundation with modules covering psychology across the lifespan, cognitive and biological psychology, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and positive psychology, developing analytical, research, and critical thinking skills. Practical application is further emphasised through work-based learning in the third year, alongside a dissertation that enables students to investigate a topic in depth, and modules focused on therapeutic approaches and psychological assessment in practice. Students also have the opportunity to specialise through optional modules, including applied forensic psychology, health psychology, applied educational psychology, or applied sport and exercise psychology, allowing them to tailor their studies to career interests. Across all years, the program develops essential skills such as research design, data analysis, critical evaluation, and problem-solving, while fostering an understanding of how psychological knowledge can be applied in real-world settings. Graduates leave with the expertise and practical experience to pursue careers in research, healthcare, education, or applied psychology, or to continue their studies at postgraduate level.
