COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology with Health BSc (Hons) degree is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of how psychological principles influence health, behaviour, and wellbeing, preparing them for careers in health psychology, public health, wellbeing coaching, or applied postgraduate study. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as applied psychology, individual differences and personality, fundamentals of health psychology, mental health and wellbeing, and research methods, alongside understanding psychology within diverse communities. The second year develops analytical and research skills through modules in cognitive and biological psychology, psychology across the lifespan, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and psychological interventions and behaviour change, enabling students to apply theory to practical health challenges. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a dissertation, work-based learning, and modules focused on therapeutic approaches and applications of health psychology. Optional modules such as applied forensic psychology, sport and exercise psychology, or educational psychology allow students to tailor their studies to specific career interests. Throughout the program, practical work-based learning, research opportunities in state-of-the-art psychology labs, and the development of reflective and analytical skills ensure graduates are equipped to make evidence-based contributions to healthcare and wellbeing initiatives. This course prepares students to support individuals and communities in achieving improved mental and physical health outcomes.
