COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology with Education BSc (Hons) degree provides a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour, cognition, and development while integrating educational principles to prepare students for careers in teaching, learning support, or educational psychology. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules covering psychology within diverse communities, applied psychology, individual differences and personality, mental health and wellbeing, and the fundamentals of educational psychology, alongside research methods. In the second year, the focus expands to cognitive, biological, and lifespan psychology, alongside qualitative and quantitative research methods and the study of psychology in inclusive educational settings, allowing students to develop analytical, reflective, and practical skills. In the final year, students complete a dissertation and engage in work-based learning, applying psychological theory in real-world contexts and gaining experience in therapeutic approaches and the application of educational psychology. Optional modules allow further specialisation in areas such as applied forensic psychology, applied sport and exercise psychology, or health psychology, enabling students to tailor their learning to career aspirations. By combining theoretical knowledge, research skills, and practical experience, this course equips graduates with the expertise, critical thinking, and confidence to make meaningful contributions to education, psychological support, and wider societal wellbeing, while providing a strong foundation for postgraduate study or professional development.
