COURSE CURRICULUM

The Adult Nursing BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years, combining theoretical study with progressive clinical practice to prepare students for a professional nursing career. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge and skills through core modules such as Assess, Plan, Provide and Evaluate Care, Literacy, Numeracy and Technology for Nursing Practice, Nursing in Context, Nursing Practice Part 1, and Science for Nursing. These modules focus on understanding human biology, healthcare systems, and essential nursing skills, while providing initial exposure to clinical environments. In the second year, students build on this foundation with modules including Care of the Acutely Ill Adult, Long-term Health Conditions, Nursing Practice Part 2, and Person-Centred Care. These courses enhance clinical competence, critical thinking, and the ability to manage complex patient needs, with options for Registered Nursing Associates to undertake specific tailored practice modules. The third year emphasizes advanced practice, professional development, and service improvement. Core modules such as Evidence-Based Practice – Service Improvement Project, Nursing Practice Part 3, and Transition to Professional Practice in Complex Care Environments prepare students to deliver high-quality care, lead in multidisciplinary teams, and implement best practices in diverse healthcare settings. Overall, the program ensures graduates are fully equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience to excel as adult nurses.
