COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electromechanical Engineering BEng (Hons) degree provides a structured and comprehensive program across three years, combining electrical and mechanical engineering principles to prepare students for diverse engineering careers. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in engineering mathematics, mechanical principles, electrical principles, electronics and logic, CAD design, and software applications. These courses develop essential analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills while introducing students to design and engineering fundamentals. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied engineering and systems integration with modules including systems and control principles, thermofluid mechanics, renewable energy and sustainability, smart manufacturing, mechatronic systems, and virtual engineering and simulation. These modules enable students to understand complex engineering systems, develop practical solutions, and explore emerging technologies in sustainability and automation. The final year emphasises advanced applications, integration, and professional development through modules such as embedded systems, Internet of Things operation and control, Industry 4.0 manufacturing, project management, and an independent project. This stage allows students to synthesise knowledge from prior years, engage in practical and research-based work, and develop skills for managing and implementing complex electromechanical systems. Graduates emerge as competent, adaptable engineers, ready to innovate in industries such as robotics, automation, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing.
