The Prosthetics for Entertainment degree offers a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the technical expertise, creative skills, and professional knowledge required for a successful career in the entertainment industry. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Visual Culture and Context, Character Illustration and Design, Realistic Sculpture, Flatbed Moulding and Prosthetics Application Techniques, and The Prosthetic Material Toolkit, alongside Professional Image Construction to prepare them for industry practice. The second year builds on this foundation, introducing Mask Manufacture, Contoured Moulding and Casting Skills, 3D Digital Sculpting, Holistic Character Creation, and Collaborative Practice, while also incorporating Entrepreneurial Skills, Industry Research, and Ethics to provide insight into professional practice and business acumen. In the final year, students focus on advanced techniques and professional readiness through Sustainable and Resourceful Practice, The Hybrid Technician, Hyper-Realistic Simulation, and the Professional Creative Showcase, culminating in a Final Major Prosthetics Project that demonstrates their ability to integrate technical skill, creativity, and innovation. Across all three years, the course combines traditional sculpting, moulding, and prosthetic application with cutting-edge digital technologies, portfolio development, and industry-relevant skills, ensuring graduates are prepared to enter competitive roles in film, television, theatre, events, and other creative sectors as highly skilled, versatile, and employable prosthetics professionals.
