COURSE CURRICULUM

The Podiatry (Pre-Registration) MSc program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop both the academic knowledge and clinical expertise required for a career in podiatry. The course integrates core modules such as Pre-Registration Practice Principles, Podiatric Conditions and Patient-Centred Care, and Prescription-only Medicines for Podiatrists, providing students with a strong foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of foot and lower limb healthcare. Emphasis is placed on research skills and critical thinking, enabling students to evaluate and apply contemporary evidence to clinical practice. A key component of the program is the structured series of pre-registration practice placements, which allow students to gain hands-on experience in a variety of clinical settings. These placements are designed to develop students’ competence in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a range of podiatric conditions, while fostering clinical reasoning, decision-making, and patient-centred care skills. Advanced modules such as Complex Conditions and Advanced Care, and Leadership, Education and Innovation prepare students for higher-level practice, professional development, and leadership roles within healthcare. The program culminates in an MSc Pre-Registration Dissertation, providing the opportunity to conduct independent research and contribute to the evidence base in podiatry. Graduates leave equipped to register as professional podiatrists, confident in delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based care.
