COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Earthquake and Structural Engineering provides advanced knowledge and practical expertise in the analysis, design, and management of structures under dynamic and seismic conditions. Core modules focus on key aspects of structural engineering, including bridge loads and analysis, repair and strengthening of existing reinforced concrete structures, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and the dynamics of structures with earthquake engineering applications. Students also explore transport modelling for civil engineering, gaining an understanding of how infrastructure systems interact and respond to both daily operations and extraordinary events such as earthquakes. The program includes a dissertation, allowing students to undertake independent research that applies theoretical principles to real-world structural engineering challenges. An optional module in project planning and analysis further equips students with skills in managing engineering projects, assessing risks, and planning interventions in complex scenarios. The combination of theoretical instruction, practical problem-solving, and research experience ensures graduates are well-prepared for careers in structural and civil engineering, consultancy, construction, and related fields.
