COURSE CURRICULUM

The Strength and Conditioning MSc is structured to provide a balance of academic study and practical experience, with teaching typically scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, allowing students to dedicate the remainder of the week to placements, data collection, and applied learning. The program offers flexible exit points, enabling students to leave with a postgraduate certificate after one semester by completing three 20-credit modules, or a postgraduate diploma after two semesters by completing six 20-credit modules. To achieve the full MSc qualification, students must complete a 60-credit final research project, which consolidates their learning and demonstrates their ability to conduct independent, applied research in the field of strength and conditioning. The degree comprises seven core modules, each designed to build essential knowledge and skills for professional practice. These include Practical Applications of Training Theory, Skills for Physiological Assessment, Science in Practice, Science of Physical Performance and Training, Pedagogy for Strength and Conditioning, Personal and Professional Development, and the Final Research Project. Together, the modules provide a comprehensive understanding of training theory, performance science, coaching pedagogy, and professional development, while the research project allows students to apply these skills in a practical or experimental context. This combination ensures graduates are well-prepared for careers in elite athletics and strength and conditioning coaching.
