COURSE CURRICULUM

MSc (OSPAP) Pharmacy program focuses on developing advanced knowledge and professional competence in contemporary pharmacy practice, with particular emphasis on new developments in pharmaceutics, clinical pharmacy, and pharmacy practice. Students explore key areas including pharmacy law and ethics, current and emerging issues in the profession, and the organisation and delivery of healthcare within the UK system. The program also offers flexibility, allowing students to develop a program of work that aligns with their individual learning needs and professional goals. A major component of the MSc is the research project, for which students select a topic aligned with the School of Applied Sciences’ active research areas. These currently include paediatric medicines, patient mood and health outcomes, empathy and communication in consultations, and patients’ and pharmacists’ knowledge and attitudes towards counterfeit medicines. Core modules include Scientific Basis of Pharmacy Practice, Applied Therapeutics, Novel Medicinal Products: A Clinical Perspective, Health Promotion for Pharmacists, Clinical Drug Delivery, Pharmaceutical Skills, and Advanced Professional Studies, which together build a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, clinical decision-making, and professional practice. The MSc (OSPAP) Project enables students to apply research methodologies to a pharmacy-related topic, strengthening critical thinking, independent research skills, and evidence-based practice essential for professional progression in pharmacy.
