COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health and Education MSc combines a strong foundation in research methods with opportunities for specialised study, providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to advance their careers in health and social care education. Core modules include Research Theory and Application for Health Professionals, Quantitative Research Methods, Research Methods and Critical Appraisal, Research Ethics and Integrity in Health and Social Care, Philosophies of Research, Research Methods in Community Research, Qualitative Research, and the Dissertation. These modules equip students with a comprehensive understanding of research design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, alongside ethical and philosophical considerations, ensuring graduates are able to conduct rigorous, evidence-based research that informs practice. In addition to the core curriculum, students can choose from a range of option modules to tailor their learning to specific interests and professional goals. Options include Promoting Health, Wellbeing and Resilience Through Participation, Principles of Health Promotion and Behaviour Change, Integrated Care for the Older Person, Sustainable Healthcare Principles, Exploring Pain, Critical Approaches to Enabling Behaviour Change for Health Improvement, and Physical Activity and Exercise Rehabilitation. This flexible approach allows students to deepen their expertise in areas such as health promotion, behaviour change, integrated care, and rehabilitation, while applying research-informed knowledge to real-world educational and professional contexts.
