COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Health modules are delivered in intensive ‘block’ formats over five to six days, typically including a weekend break, allowing students to balance their studies with work and other commitments while fully immersing themselves in each subject. This structure enables focused learning on one module at a time and supports deeper engagement with complex global health issues. Core modules include Globalisation and Health, Global Burden and Management of Disease, Research Methods and Critical Appraisal, and a 60-credit Dissertation, which together provide a strong foundation in global health theory, research skills, and applied analysis. Students can tailor their degree through a wide range of optional modules covering diverse and contemporary topics such as Conflict, Violence and Health, Health Protection with a focus on infectious, emerging and neglected diseases, Economic Evaluation of Healthcare, Epidemiology, Health and Development, International Politics of Health, Migration, Refugees and Wellbeing, Sustainable Healthcare Principles, Essential Statistics for Health and Medical Research, and Medical Anthropology for Global Public Health. In addition, the program has previously offered highly popular optional modules including Access to Medicines, Decolonising Health, Global Politics of Disease, Sexuality and Development, Fertility, Reproduction and Health, Cultural Understandings of Health and Healing, and anthropological perspectives on mental health, reflecting the program’s interdisciplinary, flexible, and evolving curriculum.
