COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Risk Management MSc combines core finance knowledge with specialised training in risk assessment and management, preparing students for careers in risk management, financial analysis, investment consultancy, and related sectors. Core modules include Economics of Financial Markets, Financial Theory and Practice, and Financial Risk Management, which provide a strong foundation in financial systems, market operations, and strategies for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks at company, national, and international levels. Applied Econometrics and Financial Time-Series Analysis equips students with advanced quantitative and analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and forecast trends, while Financial Technologies (Fintech) introduces emerging innovations such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and big data that are transforming financial risk management. Research Methods for Finance and Economics develops the skills required for rigorous research and critical evaluation of financial information. The program also includes an MSc Finance and Risk Management Dissertation, enabling students to undertake an in-depth research project, and the Live Brief module, which offers opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world financial scenarios. Full-time students may further enhance their professional experience through a Work Placement Project, gaining practical exposure to industry practices. By integrating theoretical study, quantitative analysis, and applied learning, the MSc equips graduates with the technical expertise, analytical capabilities, and strategic understanding required to manage financial risk in dynamic global markets.
