COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Fintech MSc combines core finance knowledge with the study of technological innovations shaping the financial sector, preparing students for careers in an evolving global industry. Core modules include Economics of Financial Markets, Financial Theory and Practice, and The Economics of Money, Interest Rates, Banking and Financial Institutions, providing a strong foundation in financial systems, market dynamics, and institutional operations. Investment Management introduces techniques for evaluating portfolios and managing financial risk, while Financial Technologies (Fintech) focuses on emerging innovations such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and big data, equipping students with practical skills to apply technology in finance. Research Methods for Finance and Economics develops the ability to conduct robust research and critically analyse complex financial data. The program also includes an MSc Finance and Fintech Dissertation, enabling students to undertake an in-depth research project on a specialised topic, and the Live Brief module, which provides opportunities to apply knowledge to real-world industry challenges. Full-time students can further enhance their experience through a Work Placement Project, gaining practical exposure and professional skills. By integrating finance, technology, and applied research, the MSc prepares graduates for roles in fintech, banking, investment management, financial consultancy, and related sectors, ensuring they have the technical expertise, analytical capabilities, and strategic understanding required in modern financial environments.
