COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Data Analytics MSc combines rigorous academic study with practical, hands-on experience to equip students with the skills needed to analyse complex financial data and make informed decisions in dynamic global markets. Core modules include Economics of Financial Markets, Financial Theory and Practice, and Financial Risk Management, which provide a strong foundation in financial systems, market operations, and strategies for managing risk. Applied Econometrics and Financial Time-Series Analysis and Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Data develop advanced quantitative and analytical skills, enabling students to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making. Research Methods for Finance and Economics equips students with the tools to conduct robust research and critically evaluate financial information. The program also includes an MSc Finance and Data Analytics Dissertation, offering the opportunity to undertake an in-depth research project, and the Live Brief module, which allows students to apply their knowledge to real-world business challenges. Full-time students may further enhance their professional skills through a Work Placement Project, gaining practical industry experience. By combining financial theory, quantitative analysis, and applied projects, the MSc prepares graduates for careers in investment analysis, financial consultancy, risk management, and other finance-related roles, providing the technical expertise and critical thinking skills required to succeed in data-driven financial environments.
