COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance and Banking MSc combines a rigorous academic foundation with practical experience to prepare students for careers in the evolving banking and financial sectors. Core modules include Economics of Financial Markets, Financial Theory and Practice, and The Economics of Money, Interest Rates, Banking and Financial Institutions, which develop an understanding of financial systems, market dynamics, and the operation of banks and financial institutions. Investment Management introduces techniques for portfolio management and risk assessment, while Financial Technologies (Fintech) examines the impact of digital innovation on banking and finance. Research Methods for Finance and Economics equips students with the skills to conduct independent research and analyse complex financial data. The program also includes an MSc Finance and Banking Dissertation, allowing students to undertake an in-depth research project on a topic of their choice, and the Live Brief module, which provides opportunities to apply knowledge to real-world business scenarios. Full-time students may additionally complete a Work Placement Project, gaining practical industry experience and enhancing professional skills. By combining academic theory, practical exercises, and engagement with current developments in banking and finance, the MSc develops analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Graduates are prepared to navigate the complexities of global financial markets and pursue careers in banking, finance, investment management, or related sectors.
