COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Assessment and Management program combines core modules with optional specialisations to provide a comprehensive understanding of environmental sustainability, assessment, and management practices. Core modules include Environmental Impact Assessment, Key Concepts in Environmental Assessment and Management, Contested Natures and Social Justice, and Masters Research Skills and Dissertation. These modules equip students with the theoretical knowledge, research skills, and practical approaches necessary to evaluate and manage the environmental impacts of projects, policies, and organisations. Students learn to address complex environmental challenges, integrating sustainability principles, legal frameworks, and social justice considerations into their work. In addition to the core modules, students can choose from a wide range of option modules to tailor their learning according to their interests and career goals. Options include Introduction to Geographical Information Systems, Applications in GIS, Planning Theory and Practice, Communicating Issues in Ecology and Conservation, Hydrology and Pollutant Transport, Masters Independent Study, Sustainable Urbanism in Coastal Communities, Applied Taxonomy for Conservation, Microbiology, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Remediation, Applied Remote Sensing, Water Quality Assessment and Management, and the Environment Placement Module supported by the Green Growth Platform. By combining theoretical study, research, practical application, and professional engagement, the program prepares graduates for careers in environmental assessment, consultancy, policy development, and sustainable management across local, national, and international contexts.
