COURSE CURRICULUM

The Data Analytics postgraduate course focuses on three key areas: data management, data interpretation, and project management. In data management, students learn to structure and manipulate data to prepare it for analysis. Data interpretation covers statistical analysis using advanced features of industry-standard software, including SAS, R, Python, and SQL, while project management addresses the business-specific and strategic aspects of analytics. The program includes five core modules: Data Management, Business Analytics Strategy and Practice, Introduction to Statistical Data Analysis with R, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Data, and a major Project, which can be undertaken in collaboration with industry partners. These core modules provide a comprehensive foundation in data handling, analysis, and the application of analytics within business contexts. In addition to the core modules, students select option modules to specialise in areas of personal or professional interest. Examples of option modules include Multivariate Analysis and Statistical Modelling, Medical Statistics, Programming for Analytics with SAS, and Forecasting and Credit Risk Analysis, though availability may vary depending on timetabling and staff resources. Through a combination of practical projects, advanced statistical training, and exposure to business strategies, the program equips graduates with the technical, analytical, and project management skills necessary to pursue careers in data analytics, business intelligence, and related fields.
