COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Civil Engineering program is designed to offer flexibility, allowing students to tailor their learning according to their interests while maintaining a strong technical foundation. Students are required to take and pass at least four technical option modules, ensuring a balance between core knowledge and specialised study. Core modules cover essential areas such as wave mechanics and structural loading, repair and strengthening of existing reinforced concrete structures, geotechnical earthquake engineering, dynamics of structures with earthquake engineering applications, transport modelling for civil engineering, and the MSc engineering dissertation. These modules provide advanced theoretical knowledge and practical skills to address complex engineering challenges. In addition, students can choose from option modules such as bridge loads and analysis, sustainable construction, water quality assessment and management, and water recycling technology, though availability may vary depending on timetabling and staff resources. The program combines rigorous technical training with flexibility, enabling students to gain both breadth and depth in civil engineering while preparing for professional practice or further research.
