COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport Physiology degree equips students with a comprehensive understanding of human physiology as it relates to athletic performance and exercise. Core modules such as Skills for Physiological Assessment and Science in Practice provide students with essential practical and analytical skills, allowing them to evaluate and interpret physiological data accurately. Exercise Tolerance (Integrative Physiology) deepens understanding of the body’s response to different types and intensities of exercise, preparing students to design effective training and conditioning programs. The Personal and Professional Development module focuses on cultivating workplace skills, ethical awareness, and reflective practice, ensuring students are prepared to operate confidently and responsibly in professional environments. The Final Research Project offers an opportunity for independent investigation, enabling students to apply their knowledge and skills to a real-world problem or area of interest, developing critical thinking and research expertise. Optional modules, including Practical Applications of Training Theory, Science of Physical Performance and Training, and Applied Environmental Physiology, allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests, such as advanced performance analysis, training optimisation, or environmental adaptations in sport. Through a combination of theoretical study, practical laboratory work, and applied projects, students graduate with the knowledge, hands-on experience, and professional competencies needed for careers in sport physiology, performance analysis, strength and conditioning, or further postgraduate study.
