COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmaceutical Sciences MRes is structured to provide students with advanced research training and in-depth knowledge across the field of pharmaceutical science. The program is anchored by core modules, including a major MRes Research Project, where students design, execute, and critically evaluate a substantial independent research study, demonstrating both creativity and scientific rigor. Alongside this, the Current Research in Pharmaceutical Science module exposes students to cutting-edge developments and methodologies, ensuring a strong understanding of contemporary scientific challenges. Students also choose from specialized modules such as Advanced Pharmaceutical Analysis, Monitoring Signalling Molecules in Neuroscience, or Techniques in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Analysis, allowing them to focus on areas of particular interest and build technical expertise. The course offers a range of optional modules, including Biological Membranes: Drug Targets and Disease, Applied Nucleic Acid Biochemistry, Omics for Diseases, Applied Protein Biochemistry, and Nanotechnology Research, which provide opportunities to explore specialized topics and engage with applied research. The flexibility to select additional core modules enhances the ability to tailor the program to individual career goals. By combining practical laboratory experience, theoretical knowledge, and exposure to current research, the MRes equips graduates with the skills, confidence, and expertise necessary for careers in industry, academic research, or progression to doctoral study.
