COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Criminology LLB at Brighton provides students with a detailed understanding of both the legal system and the social factors that influence criminal behaviour. In the first year, students study core legal principles and develop foundational skills, covering areas such as legal systems, contract law, tort law, public law, business law, and professional legal practice, while gaining experience in research and courtroom procedures. Year two introduces criminology, allowing students to explore criminological theory, criminal law, equity and trusts, European Union law, land law, and professional legal practice. Practical experience is further enhanced through opportunities such as mooting competitions and work shadowing with judges or law firm partners. In the final year, students deepen their understanding of crime and justice through core modules, including key debates in crime and justice and a criminology research project. They can also tailor their studies by selecting from a wide range of optional modules such as advanced criminal law, criminal litigation, intellectual property, environmental law, human rights, family law, and healthcare law. Throughout the degree, students develop practical legal skills, research abilities, and critical thinking, preparing them for careers in law, criminology, the criminal justice system, and related professional fields, with the option to focus on areas aligned with personal career goals.
