COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law with Business degree at Brighton provides a comprehensive foundation in both legal theory and business practice, equipping students with the skills and knowledge to navigate professional environments across multiple sectors. In the first year, students are introduced to core aspects of law, including legal systems, research methods, torts, contract law, public law, and business law, while developing essential courtroom and professional practice skills. Classes are structured over three days per week, allowing time for independent study and engagement with campus activities. In the second year, the focus shifts to expanding practical capabilities for legal and business contexts, including modules in criminal law, equity and trusts, European Union law, contemporary commercial law, and professional legal practice. Mooting exercises enhance advocacy skills, and opportunities for national competitions and work shadowing with judges or law firm partners provide real-world experience. The final year allows students to tailor their studies through six optional modules, covering topics such as intellectual property law, human rights, fintech, employment law, international law, clinical legal education, and more. These options, combined with research projects and placement opportunities, enable students to focus on areas aligned with their career aspirations, building expertise that integrates legal understanding with business acumen, and preparing graduates for diverse professional pathways.
