COURSE CURRICULUM

The Adult Nursing degree equips students with the knowledge, skills, and professional understanding required to provide high-quality care to adult patients across diverse healthcare settings. In the first year, students are introduced to the nursing profession and begin developing essential skills, including assessing and planning nursing care in partnership with patients, alongside foundational knowledge of human biology. Practice learning placements allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations under supervision. In the second year, students build on this foundation, developing principles of adult nursing and gaining exposure to a variety of clinical settings, including public health, acute services, community care, and research environments. Modules focus on evidence-based practice, promoting health and preventing illness, supporting adults with long-term conditions, and managing clinical deterioration. Practical placements continue to reinforce learning and skill development. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge and extend their professional practice, with a focus on leadership, advanced physical assessment, complex care needs, and palliative and end-of-life care. They undertake an extended project and develop skills in clinical decision-making, teamwork, and managing nursing care. By the end of the program, graduates are prepared to provide safe, compassionate, and effective care, equipped for a successful career as adult nurses in hospitals, community settings, and beyond.
