COURSE CURRICULUM

The Exercise, Health and Rehabilitation Science degree provides a comprehensive foundation in the scientific study of human movement, health, and rehabilitation. In the first year, students explore the principles of health and rehabilitation, applied studies, sport and exercise science, physiology, musculoskeletal anatomy, biomechanics, and sport and exercise psychology, establishing the essential knowledge and skills for future practice. The second year builds on this foundation, focusing on applied sport and exercise physiology, psychology, exercise referral, and rehabilitation, alongside research methods and data analysis. Students can also select option modules such as nutrition for physical activity, performance assessment, strength and conditioning, and sport psychology in action, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests. In the final year, students consolidate their expertise through a dissertation and professional development, while core modules include injury and rehabilitation in sport and exercise. Optional modules offer opportunities to specialise further, including applied sport and exercise psychology, physiological aspects of exercise, nutrition and health, advanced strength and conditioning, applied exercise psychology, exercise and the brain, performance analysis, sports nutrition, and sport business entrepreneurship. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, preparing graduates to design and implement exercise and rehabilitation programs, support health and wellbeing, and pursue careers in healthcare, sports science, rehabilitation, or further postgraduate study.
