COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Project Management BSc(Hons) degree provides a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, combining technical knowledge, management skills, and practical experience. In the first year, students explore fundamental aspects of the built environment, including construction materials, building technology and design, indoor environment and building services, land and construction surveying, and the introduction to the broader built environment. This foundation equips students with essential knowledge and practical skills needed for progression. In the second year, learning advances to cover project management in construction more deeply, including construction methods and technology, Building Information Modelling (BIM), cost and contract administration, and professional practice in construction project management. These modules help students develop critical management, planning, and organisational skills required to oversee construction projects. In the final year, students focus on their individual honours project while consolidating knowledge through core modules in project planning and analysis, project management for construction, and sustainable construction practices. Optional modules such as building pathology, life care, and construction risk and financial analysis allow students to specialise in areas of personal or professional interest. Throughout the course, practical experience, site visits, and real-world applications ensure graduates are well-prepared to manage complex construction projects, balancing technical, financial, and sustainability considerations in a professional environment.
