COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science with Cyber Security BSc(Hons) degree at Brighton provides students with the technical knowledge and professional skills needed to pursue a career in cyber security, protecting digital systems and data across a variety of sectors. In the first year, students gain a strong foundation in computer science and cyber security through modules covering programming, web development, computing technologies, artificial intelligence, and professional skills for working in the computing industry. This year also includes enterprise projects that develop practical problem-solving and teamwork abilities. In the second year, students deepen their understanding of software and hardware design while exploring specialist areas such as network security, secure systems analysis, security and dependability, object-oriented development, data structures, and operating systems. Integrated group projects allow students to apply their knowledge to real-world cyber security challenges, while optional modules provide opportunities to focus on topics such as mobile application development, database management, embedded systems, and intelligent systems. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a major cyber security project, develop an advanced understanding of information security management, and explore legal and ethical aspects of cyber security, including intellectual property law. Graduates emerge prepared for roles such as cyber security analyst, ethical hacker, or software security engineer, equipped to address complex challenges in securing digital environments.
