COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Business Analytics BSc(Hons) degree, students are introduced to the foundations of cyber security and computing, providing essential knowledge for navigating the increasingly digital business environment. Key topics include computing technologies and artificial intelligence, equipping students with an understanding of how these tools and innovations impact business operations and decision-making. The program also focuses on developing practical skills in data acquisition, processing, and analysis, using a range of widely applied computer packages to ensure students gain hands-on experience in handling and interpreting data. Through modules such as introduction to cyber security, computing technologies, managing systems and operations, and introduction to artificial intelligence, students build both technical proficiency and conceptual understanding. Additionally, the enterprise project and skills module allows students to apply their learning to a practical business scenario, fostering real-world problem-solving abilities and collaborative working. Creative problem-solving and tech confidence are further emphasised, helping students to approach challenges innovatively and with adaptability. By the end of the first year, students will have a strong foundation in the technical, analytical, and practical skills needed to progress into more advanced topics in business analytics, preparing them for subsequent years of study and real-world applications in data-driven decision-making and business problem solving.
