COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil with Environmental Engineering BEng (Hons) degree provides a strong foundation in civil and environmental engineering principles, combining technical knowledge with sustainability-focused learning. In the first year, students study key topics such as surveying, structural analysis, construction materials, geology, soil mechanics, mathematics, and engineering practice, while also engaging in a group project as part of the Engineering for People Design Challenge. The second year builds on these fundamentals, with modules in structural analysis, reinforced concrete design, computational mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and hydraulics. Students also have the opportunity to explore optional subjects like environmental pollution, climate change, and GIS to develop specialised environmental insight. In the final year, learning focuses on integrating environmental awareness into engineering solutions, supported by an individual project and core modules such as Design of Steel Structures and Environmental Impact Assessment. Optional modules enable students to explore advanced topics including sustainable construction, water and sanitation, applied hydraulics, and hydrology. This blend of theory, practical work, and environmental application ensures graduates are equipped with the technical, analytical, and sustainability skills needed to design and manage environmentally responsible infrastructure projects across civil, environmental, and water engineering sectors.
