COURSE CURRICULUM

The Media Production degree develops practical skills and industry knowledge through a mix of hands-on projects, professional guidance, and critical study. In the first year, students are introduced to core principles of media production, working on practice-based modules that cover filmmaking, digital and web media design, video and sound editing, and understanding audiences. They also gain insight into media industries and production management, responding to industry briefs and developing the technical and creative skills needed for professional practice. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialised production areas, including television, podcasting, factual production, promotional video, and genre and narrative exploration. Students also undertake a media placement, providing valuable industry experience and opportunities to apply their skills in real-world settings. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a major project, producing a portfolio and final report that demonstrate their creative and technical abilities. Additional modules focus on post-production effects, media enterprise, and addressing global challenges in media, allowing students to refine their expertise and prepare for professional work. Throughout the course, students develop creativity, technical proficiency, critical understanding, and professional awareness, equipping them for diverse careers in media production, digital content, broadcasting, and related creative industries.
