COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fine Art Printmaking BA (Hons) degree provides a progressive, studio-focused education that combines technical skill, conceptual development, and professional practice. In the first year, students are introduced to a wide range of printmaking techniques, including etching, lithography, screen printing, relief, and digital processes, alongside drawing, colour theory, and image-making. Studio practice is complemented by theoretical lectures, seminars, and technical inductions, while students are encouraged to explore personal interests and participate in collaborative projects, including a group exhibition and a print edition project. The second year emphasizes autonomy and experimentation, allowing students to refine their practice, test research methodologies, and develop their individual artistic voice. Modules such as Studio Practice 3 and Professional Development provide opportunities for public exhibition, engagement with schools or artist-led projects, and professional networking, bridging creative practice with real-world contexts. In the final year, students consolidate their skills and ideas into a coherent body of work for the graduate exhibition, synthesizing the technical, conceptual, and professional learning from previous years. Alongside their studio work, students engage critically with the broader context of contemporary art, prepare for postgraduate study, and develop strategies for careers in the creative industries.
