COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Public Health programme includes a range of core modules designed to develop students’ understanding of public health practice, research, health systems, and population wellbeing. The Applied Public Health Practice module focuses on practical approaches to improving community health, preventing disease, and addressing public health challenges in local and global settings. Through Epidemiology and Health Measurement, students learn how to study disease patterns, analyse health data, and measure health outcomes to support evidence-based decision-making and policy development. The Health Research Methods and Critical Appraisal module develops essential research skills, enabling students to evaluate healthcare evidence, conduct research, and critically assess public health studies and interventions. Students also study Social Determinants of Global Health and Health Systems, which explores how factors such as income, education, environment, culture, and healthcare systems influence health outcomes and inequalities across populations worldwide. In addition, the programme includes a Dissertation, allowing students to conduct independent research on a public health topic of personal or professional interest while developing analytical, academic writing, and problem-solving skills. Overall, the course combines theoretical knowledge with practical and research-based learning to prepare graduates for careers in public health, healthcare management, policy development, community health, research, and international health organisations focused on improving population health and wellbeing.
