COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Engineering Management programme includes a range of core modules that develop both technical expertise and management capabilities required for leadership roles in engineering industries. Students begin with Project Management and Control, which focuses on planning, monitoring, and delivering projects efficiently while managing resources, budgets, and timelines. The Understanding Organisations and Systems module helps students explore organisational structures, business systems, and the relationship between management and engineering operations. Through Commercial and Contractual Issues in Project Management, students gain knowledge of contracts, procurement, legal considerations, and commercial strategies involved in engineering projects. The Leadership and Management of Project Risk, Quality and People module develops important leadership and decision-making skills while teaching students how to manage risks, maintain quality standards, and effectively lead teams in complex project environments. Engineering Management Practice provides practical insights into modern engineering management techniques and professional practices used across industries. In addition, students complete a major Project or Dissertation, allowing them to conduct independent research and apply theoretical concepts to real engineering or management challenges. This research project strengthens analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities while giving students valuable practical experience.
