COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics degree is designed for students who want to build expertise in protecting digital systems, investigating cybercrime, and understanding modern security challenges. The course combines computer science, cybersecurity, and digital forensics, giving you a broad range of technical and investigative skills that are highly valued across many industries. In the first year, you develop a strong foundation in programming, software development, web technologies, cybersecurity principles, and computer systems and networks. As you progress, the course becomes increasingly specialised, covering secure computer networks, security and forensic analysis, artificial intelligence, advanced cybersecurity, penetration testing, ethical hacking, and digital forensic investigations. You will gain hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and techniques to identify vulnerabilities, secure systems, analyse cyber incidents, recover digital evidence, and investigate cybercrimes. A major advantage of the course is the opportunity to work towards the internationally recognised Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) qualification, with learning materials integrated into the curriculum. Practical projects, including an industrial project and a final-year computing project, allow you to apply your knowledge to real-world problems and develop professional skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. An optional placement year provides valuable industry experience and enhances employability. Graduates leave with expertise in cybersecurity operations, ethical hacking, network security, digital forensics, and cyber investigation, opening career opportunities as cybersecurity analysts, penetration testers, digital forensic investigators, security consultants, and threat intelligence specialists. With cyber threats continuing to grow worldwide, this degree provides excellent career prospects, strong job security, and opportunities to work in both the public and private sectors, helping organisations protect their critical digital assets and investigate cyber incidents responsibly and ethically.
