COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Accounting and Financial Systems course is structured over three years, with each year building students’ knowledge and practical skills in accounting, finance, and digital technology. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as Introduction to Programming and Digital Technology, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, and Legal, Economic and Ethical Issues in Business. These modules introduce key accounting principles, business concepts, and basic programming skills. In Year 2, the focus shifts toward practical and professional applications with modules including Computerised Accounting and Payroll, Contemporary Audit and Assurance, Taxation, and Managing Performance. Students gain hands-on experience using accounting software and learn about auditing, payroll systems, taxation processes, and business performance management. In the final year, students study advanced topics such as Financial Reporting, Financial Management, Advanced Computerised Accounting and Payroll, and Big Data Analytics. These modules help students strengthen their analytical, technical, and decision-making abilities while exploring the role of data and digital tools in modern finance. Overall, the course combines academic knowledge with industry-relevant skills, preparing graduates for professional careers in accounting, finance, auditing, business analysis, and financial technology sectors.
