COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Fashion Journalism programme provides students with a comprehensive understanding of journalism, digital media, and the global fashion industry while developing the practical skills required for careers in modern media and communications. The course begins by introducing students to the foundations of journalism, including news writing, interviewing, research, and reporting techniques, alongside an exploration of fashion marketing and communications. Students examine the history of fashion, influential designers, major brands, and the ways fashion organisations build their identities and connect with consumers. Modules in media law and ethics develop an understanding of the legal and professional responsibilities of journalists, covering areas such as libel, privacy, copyright, court reporting, and professional codes of conduct. Through digital publishing, students gain experience in multimedia storytelling, video journalism, and producing engaging content for online audiences. Practical modules in fashion styling and photography enable students to create editorial shoots, lookbooks, and social media content while developing their creative direction and communication skills. The programme also focuses on social, digital, and video journalism, helping students build expertise in filming, editing, scripting, interviewing, and audience engagement across digital platforms. Through live reporting activities, students gain experience in real newsroom environments, producing stories for print and digital media while learning how to use analytics and social media effectively. Modules in feature writing and the Fashion Journalism Portfolio provide opportunities to research, pitch, and produce multimedia content to professional standards and real deadlines.
