COURSE CURRICULUM

This Accounting and Finance degree provides a comprehensive understanding of accounting, taxation, auditing, finance, business law, governance, and management, preparing students for professional careers in the financial sector. In the first stages of the course, students develop a strong foundation in business operations, legal frameworks, economics, quantitative analysis, and accounting principles. They learn how businesses are formed, managed, and regulated, while gaining practical skills in financial reporting, data analysis, budgeting, cost control, and decision-making. As the programme progresses, students explore specialist areas including UK taxation, auditing, assurance, financial risk, corporate finance, and advanced financial accounting. They develop the ability to prepare and interpret financial statements, assess business performance, manage investments, understand funding options, and evaluate financial risks faced by organisations. The course also introduces professional auditing standards, ethical responsibilities, and risk management techniques used in modern business environments. An optional professional placement year allows students to gain valuable workplace experience by working on real business projects under the guidance of academic and industry mentors. In the final stage, students study advanced professional subjects such as strategic management accounting, international financial reporting, financial management, and corporate governance. They learn how organisations use costing systems, performance measurement tools, budgeting methods, and financial strategies to support growth and improve efficiency. Students also gain knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), mergers and acquisitions, investment decisions, corporate accountability, ethical leadership, and governance structures.
