COURSE CURRICULUM

The taught modules in the Reproductive and Developmental Medicine MSc provide a comprehensive foundation in both the scientific principles and clinical practices of reproductive health. The module Research Skills in Reproductive Medicine develops the essential abilities to design, conduct, and analyze scientific studies within the field, preparing students for evidence-based research and practice. Gonads to Gametes: Fundamentals of Reproduction explores the formation and function of reproductive cells, offering insight into the biological mechanisms that underpin fertility. Fertilisation, Implantation and Embryology focuses on the processes that lead to successful conception and early embryonic development, while Fetal Development, Pregnancy and Parturition examines the physiological and molecular changes that occur during gestation and childbirth. The module Reproductive Medicine and Assisted Conception introduces clinical approaches to managing infertility, including advanced assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF and ICSI. Finally, Law, Ethics and Policy in Reproductive Medicine addresses the ethical, legal, and policy frameworks that guide modern reproductive practices and research. Together, these modules integrate scientific knowledge with clinical and ethical understanding, enabling students to critically engage with contemporary challenges in reproductive medicine and to prepare for careers in clinical embryology, reproductive research, or further professional training in fertility and developmental health.
