COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology and Education (Conversion) MSc is designed to provide students from non-psychology backgrounds with a solid foundation in psychological theory and its application within educational settings. The program is structured around two compulsory modules per semester, covering core areas of psychology such as cognition and neuroscience, social and health psychology, and development across the lifespan, which together offer a comprehensive understanding of how individuals learn and interact in educational contexts. Students also undertake a module in research methods in psychology and education, equipping them with the skills to design, conduct, and interpret empirical research, fostering critical thinking and evidence-based practice. The dissertation forms a central component of the MSc, allowing students to pursue an independent research project that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical investigation, enabling them to address real-world questions relevant to education and psychology. Through a combination of lectures, seminars, and independent research, students develop both theoretical insight and practical competencies, including data analysis, research design, and professional skills. By bridging the study of psychology and education, the program prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in educational practice, policy, or further postgraduate research, while fostering a critical, analytical, and interdisciplinary approach to understanding human learning, development, and behaviour.
