COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmaceutical Engineering MSc provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of modern pharmaceutical manufacturing, blending scientific principles with engineering expertise. Core modules cover essential areas such as the science of formulated products, continuous manufacturing technology with process analytical technology (PAT) and process optimisation, and advanced bioprocess design, equipping students with the skills to develop, evaluate, and improve pharmaceutical processes. Students also gain in-depth knowledge of biopharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing, advanced biochemical engineering, nanomaterials process design, and undertake a research project, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world industrial challenges. The program is designed to foster technical competence, problem-solving abilities, and professional awareness through hands-on experience and project work, often in collaboration with industry experts. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests, including particle design and processing, process safety in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and fine chemicals industries, managing innovation and change in engineering contexts, and biopharmaceutical engineering. By integrating cutting-edge technology, regulatory standards, and innovative practices, the MSc prepares graduates for careers in pharmaceutical process development, production, and research, equipping them with the expertise required to excel in a rapidly evolving and highly regulated industry.
