COURSE CURRICULUM

The Molecular Biology and Biotechnology MSc equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise essential for careers in biotechnology and related research fields. The core modules provide a strong foundation in laboratory and scientific skills, including practical techniques in molecular biology, cellular systems engineering, advanced scientific methods, literature review, and an independent research project. Through these modules, students gain hands-on experience with essential laboratory practices, experimental design, and data analysis, enabling them to critically evaluate scientific results and develop problem-solving abilities. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals, covering areas such as microbial genomics and diversity, the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, advanced biochemical engineering, genomic approaches to drug discovery, plant biotechnology, and the world of RNA. Students selecting the Advanced Bioprocess Design Project are required to also complete Advanced Biochemical Engineering, as the two modules are closely linked, providing integrated training in bioprocess design and industrial biotechnology applications. By combining rigorous laboratory practice with specialized optional modules and an independent research project, the program ensures graduates leave with a deep understanding of molecular biology, biotechnology applications, and the professional and technical skills necessary to contribute effectively to academic, industrial, or healthcare biotechnology environments.
