COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health Economics and Decision Modelling MSc provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the economic principles, statistical techniques, and modelling approaches used to evaluate healthcare interventions and inform public health decision-making. Core modules include Introduction to Health Economics, which lays the foundation in economic theory and its application to healthcare, and Economic Evaluation, where students learn to assess the costs and outcomes of health interventions. Cost-effectiveness Modelling for Health Technology Assessment and Advanced Simulation Methods teach practical techniques for analysing and predicting the impact of medical treatments and technologies. Medical Statistics and Evidence Synthesis, Study Design and Systematic Review Methods, and Further Statistical Methods for Health Economic Analysis equip students with robust quantitative and analytical skills for handling complex healthcare data and producing reliable evidence. Valuing the Benefits of Health Care focuses on assessing the impact of interventions on patient outcomes and societal welfare. The Dissertation allows students to conduct independent research, applying the methods and concepts learned throughout the course to a real-world healthcare problem.
