COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science MSc is structured around a set of core modules designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for students from non-computing backgrounds. Core modules include Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures, which introduce fundamental coding concepts, computational thinking, and problem-solving techniques essential for software development. Introduction to Software Engineering and Professional Issues provide students with an understanding of software development life cycles, best practices, project management, and the ethical and professional responsibilities of computing professionals. The Team Development Project allows students to apply their knowledge collaboratively, simulating real-world software development environments and honing teamwork, communication, and project management skills. Cybersecurity Principles and Practices equips students with the skills to identify, prevent, and mitigate digital security threats, while Principles of Artificial Intelligence introduces the foundational concepts of AI, including machine learning, data analysis, and intelligent systems. Research Methods prepares students to undertake rigorous, evidence-based investigations, developing analytical, critical thinking, and methodological skills. The Dissertation Project serves as a capstone experience, allowing students to design and execute an independent research or development project, integrating the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program. Together, these modules prepare graduates for careers in software development, cybersecurity, AI, and other technology-driven industries, providing the technical expertise and professional skills required to succeed in a rapidly evolving sector.
