COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cognitive Neuroscience and Human Neuroimaging MSc is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of brain function, cognitive processes, and neuroimaging techniques. Core modules include Fundamentals of Cognition and Fundamentals of Neuroscience, which establish a foundation in cognitive theory and neural mechanisms, while Neuroimaging 1 and Neuroimaging 2 focus on practical skills in collecting, processing, and interpreting neuroimaging data from both healthy and clinical populations. Research Methods in Cognitive Neuroscience equips students with expertise in experimental design, statistical analysis, and critical evaluation of scientific literature, while the Research Project in Cognitive Neuroscience allows students to apply their knowledge to an independent research investigation, developing problem-solving, analytical, and research skills. Students also select one module from a choice of Scientific Programming in Computational and Cognitive Neuroscience or Data Analysis and Visualisation, providing computational and analytical skills essential for handling complex neuroimaging datasets. Additionally, one module is chosen from Neurocognitive Modelling or Systems Neuroscience, allowing students to specialise in computational approaches to cognition or the functioning of neural systems. Together, these modules integrate theoretical knowledge, technical expertise, and research experience, preparing graduates for careers in cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging research, clinical research, healthcare, or further academic study, including doctoral-level research.
