COURSE CURRICULUM

The Clinical Research MSc is structured around a comprehensive set of modules that equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in designing, conducting, and evaluating health research. Core modules include Introduction to Research Methods and Introduction to Statistics and Critical Appraisal, which provide foundational skills in study design, data analysis, and evidence-based assessment. Students explore Randomised Controlled Trials and Practical Aspects of Clinical Research, gaining hands-on experience in trial planning, implementation, and ethical compliance. Modules such as Health Needs Assessment, Planning and Evaluation, Epidemiology, and Economic Evaluation and Healthcare Financing develop an understanding of population health, resource allocation, and the impact of interventions. Qualitative Research Design and Analysis, Public Health Informatics, and Contemporary Health Psychology and Behaviour Change equip students with methods to analyse behavioural, social, and technological aspects of healthcare. Systematic Reviews and Critical Appraisal Techniques strengthen students’ ability to evaluate existing evidence rigorously. The dissertation provides an opportunity to conduct an independent research project, integrating knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program. Together, these modules prepare graduates to navigate the scientific, practical, and regulatory challenges of clinical and health research, making them capable of contributing to high-quality, evidence-based healthcare and pursuing careers in clinical trials, public health, healthcare research, and related sectors.
